Liberty Wood Designs started in 2019, rather accidentally… Being a bowhunter I had the usual situation, a fairly expensive bow that didn’t have a home. It normally found itself laying around the shop, rarely in the case because I picked it up too often to practice. I never had the patience to tuck it away knowing that I would just have to dig it out in a day or two (or maybe a few hours) to shoot a few more arrows. Eventually it was hung up on the wall to keep it out of the way, on a nail, which always bothered me. I always worried about scratching a limb or damaging a cam. One day I decided to build something that would safely store my bow but keep it accessible so I could pick it up quickly and enjoy it. This is our beginning, and after a few trial and error modifications, it became the original “Old Glory Bow Rack”.
From there we expanded with more options to safely hold bows, arrows, and eventually rifles and shotguns. Today we find our focus on anything patriotic, from the bow and rifle racks to the rustic flags.
So who is this “we” I keep referring to? This is family, 100%. I started in 2019 but in time it grew to be more than I could keep up with on my own. By the end of 2020 my wife Julie stepped in to help, I guess because she was tired of me spending all the hours out here in the shop… As far as day to day operations it’s the two of us keeping it all running. Now let’s add in marketing and social media, there simply aren’t enough hours in the day for the two of us to manage that as well, so who always has your back? Family. Our daughter Megan has taken over that role, thankfully and without any resistance from us! It takes a lot to keep everything in order and it’s just an added bonus that we all get to do it together.
In case you’re wondering “where” this all takes place, it's right here in northeast Iowa. We have a great community and a great source for materials. Our shop is here in the woods behind our home and everything takes place right here from start to finish.
